Sweaters Do Help!
By: News from Pittsburgh Presbytery - Jan 07, 2010
A sweater that help folks keep warm helps us connect with the homeless, the unemployed and the underemployed this cold and bitter winter! The Mister Rogers' Sweater Drive is a joint partnership coordinated by Presbyterian Media Mission with the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, United Way, Salvation Army, Presbyterian Missions and other social service agencies throughout the region. This year the number of sweaters donated was just over 4,200 and all were distributed between December 15 and December 24. An additional several hundred will be going to local destinations this month. There have been over 16,000 sweaters collected over the last three years during the Mister Rogers' Sweater Drive that begins in early November and ends in mid-December. A special thanks to everyone who made the 2009 Sweater Drive a success and a well-deserved thanks goes to Matt Beahm and the Church Restoration Group who provided the truck and driver for all of the deliveries this year.
