St. Boniface Church incurred significant interior damage due to a long-existing roof leak. The critical issue was to replicate more than 50 feet of plaster cornice, as well as other ornamental plaster details. Great care had to be taken to ensure the safety of workers and worshippers as the extensive scaffolding remained in place during worship services.
In the sanctuary, workers removed layers of canvas wall coverings before artisans repaired the plaster, and repainted. The repair of the plaster embellishments was successfully accomplished by creating casts from existing elements to form replacement pieces, before a completely new interior paint scheme was introduced to accentuate the church’s architectural details.
