St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and School survived two hurricanes and a tropical storm - in one year. Church Restoration Group worked around-the-clock to reopen the school only two weeks after Hurricane Francis, making it the first school in the county to bring back its students. But only four days later a second storm, twice the strength, hit the complex.
Church Restoration Group was able to respond quickly after the initial hurricane to repair the roof, perform interior demolition/ restoration, and control mold growth. After two-rounds of 3rd party environmental testing gave them the “green light”, St. Andrew’s became the first private school in Ft. Pierce to reopen following the storm.
This was crucial to ensuring the financial health and stability of the school’s business side by retaining both students and faculty. Church Restoration Group understood and catered to St. Andrew’s needs - not only to quickly restore their property, but to help them operate in limited capacity during the project, and complete it expeditiously to minimize setbacks when returning to business as usual.
Much of damage by Hurricane Jeanne came from a storm surge off the Indian River leaving standing water and floating debris. After extracting water, CRG began to fight moisture and mold. Everything from waterlogged furniture to computer equipment—and more than 5,000 books—received immediate attention. Church Restoration Group was also asked to assist in school building improvements, which had been part of a long-term plan including:
• reconfiguring classrooms
• building a new computer lab
• replacing windows
• upgrading mechanical systems
