Client: Sisters of Divine Providence Location: Allison Park, PA Value: $3.1 Million
The interior renovation of the Divine Providence chapel was a fast-track, short duration project with a limited window of time in which the chapel could be shut down to complete the work. Church Restoration Group worked hand-in-hand with the client and architect during the design/ development phase, and actually had to work out many details on the fly in a team approach to maintain the sensitive schedule.
The key to the projects success was CRG's ability to understand the sisters’ needs and articulate them, developing a cadre of artists and subcontractors who understood the total design concept and would develop and deliver their pieces in a carefully orchestrated manner.
From structural issues and mechanical integration, right down to installed art – statuary, castings, decorative glass - this project was all about timing. Staying smart on your feet, with the ability to narrow options, make decisions and quickly integrate them with the ongoing process.
Church Restoration Group was able to complete the work within the given timeframe, while providing for the special needs of a building occupied by school children on one side, and a geriatric medical facility on the other.
Church Restoration Group and JDBA Architects received a Religious Architecture Renovation Design Award for the project from the American Institute of Architects and the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture..
