Mural Restoration at St. Joseph

During an on-going project, members of St. Joseph Church realized that they needed someone quickly to clean, restore and protect a ninety year-old 13' x 15' mural depicting the Holy Family. They contacted Church Restoration Group to perform the work.

The mural needed to be cleaned due to years of dirt and soot build up as well as needing protection from the other work currently in progess. The Church and congregation also chose to have the decorative border around the mural and three gold halos repainted by Church Restoration Group artisans. Church Restoration Group respond quickly because the other work could not continue until the mural restoration work was fully completed.

Church Restoration Group's artisans completed the restoration in less then 14 days.

Because the original mural was painted in oil and required extensive cleaning and repainting, Church Restoration Group artisans used only the most gentle products and conservation methods to restore the mural to its original condition. All painting repairs were painted in acrylic or latex so that it could easily be removed without harming the original oil painting in anticipation of future conservation work.

Church Restoration Group artisans executed all of the cleaning and painting of the mural. They also temporarily covered the entire mural with lightweight, protective plastic and lined the mural with acid free tape until the other work in the church was completed.
